Xi stressed that the status and role of the Yangtze River Delta region in the country's economic and social development must be deeply understood in order to better promote the integrated development of the region in the face of the severe and complex situation.

First, take the lead in shaping a new pattern of development. In the current external environment of shrinking global market, we must concentrate on running our own affairs well, give full play to the advantages of China's super-large market, and accelerate the formation of a new pattern of development in which both domestic and international cycles play a dominant role and both domestic and international cycles reinforce each other. The Yangtze River Delta region should give full play to its advantages such as rich talents, high level of science and technology, developed manufacturing industry, relatively complete industrial chain and supply chain, and great market potential, and actively explore ways to form a new development pattern.

Second, be a brave pioneer of our country science and technology and industrial innovation. At present, the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation are accelerating, which highlights the urgency of accelerating the improvement of China's scientific and technological innovation capacity. Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta region should not only provide high-quality products, but also provide a high-level supply of science and technology to support the country's high-quality development.
