After obtaining the "divorce judgment" or "divorce mediation agreement", "recognition of the Chinese judgment" must be submitted to the local court of the couple's country since the "judgment" or "mediation agreement" is made by the Chinese court. Rules on "recognition of judgments" differ in different countries and regions. However, no matter in any country, the following three steps are essential:

1. Make the "divorce judgment" or "divorce mediation agreement" notarized in the Notary Office in the place where the court making the judgment is located. That is to prove the authenticity of the judgment or agreement.

2. Conduct "consular authentication" at the provincial level of foreign affairs office of the court where the judgment or agreement is made.

3. The documents in 1 and 2 shall be "certified by the consulate" in the foreign embassies in China.
