In 2025, Jinshan District delivered an impressive development report: its gross domestic product reached 128.39 billion yuan, with a comparable growth rate of 4.5%, ranking among the top in Shanghai. Total fiscal revenue amounted to 44.65 billion yuan, while district-level local revenue hit 11.3 billion yuan, growing by 6.5%, an outstanding performance among Shanghai’s suburban districts.
Remarkable progress has been made in industrial transformation. Moving away from traditional industrial paths, Jinshan has developed high-tech industrial clusters in biomedicine, new materials, and intelligent equipment, forming complete supply chains. Key projects, such as the Lexus new energy vehicle project and the Syngenta Global Plant Protection China Innovation Center, were rapidly implemented, exemplifying "Shanghai speed" and innovation vitality.
A major transportation bottleneck is about to be broken. The Shanghai-Hangzhou high-speed railway has begun construction and is expected to be completed by the end of 2029. Once operational, it will take just half an hour to travel from Jinshan to Hangzhou and 40 minutes to Pudong Airport. Livelihood services have continued to improve, with the "15-minute community life circle" now effectively in place. Services such as meal assistance for the elderly and community healthcare are easily accessible. Jinshan ranks second in the city for comprehensive evaluation of community health service centers.
Significant achievements have also been made in education. Jinshan was successfully designated as a national model district for high-quality and balanced compulsory education. The Hua'er Jinshan Experimental School has opened, and 90% of kindergartens now offer integrated care for infants and toddlers. Smart campus systems have helped narrow the urban-rural education gap. In addition, practical and caring policies such as the rural revitalization points system, subsidies for smart devices for elderly living alone, social security subsidies, and affordable housing have effectively addressed residents’ real needs.
Jinshan is committed to integrated industry-city development, balancing industry, urban living, and ecology. Its cultural and tourism sector is growing rapidly. In 2025, the district received 18.4 million visitors and generated 6.78 billion yuan in tourism revenue. The Legoland Shanghai Resort broke visitor records immediately after opening. Today, Jinshan has transformed from a remote suburban industrial area into a vibrant, warm, and dynamic comprehensive node city of Shanghai’s Bay Area.
