Decision of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on Acceding to the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, especially Women and Children, Supplementing the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime
(Adopted at the 12th Session of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress on December 26, 2009)
At the 12th Session of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress, it is decided that the People's Republic of China accedes to the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, especially Women and Children, Supplementing the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (hereinafter referred to as “Supplemental Protocol”), which was adopted at the 55th United Nations General Assembly on November 15, 2000, and simultaneously declared that,
I. The People's Republic of China shall not be subject to the restrictions of Paragraph 2 of Article 15 of the Supplemental Protocol.
II. Before the government of the People's Republic of China issues a separate notice, the Supplemental Protocol shall not apply to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China for the time being.
