Decision of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on Approving the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography
The 29th Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National People's Congress on Approving decided to approve the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Sale of Children, Child prostitution and Child Pornography adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on May 25, 2000 and signed by the Government of China on September 6, 2000, and declared at the same time:
In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the opinions of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, relevant legislation by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is required before this Protocol is applied in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China; and this Protocol shall not, for the present time, be applied in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China before separate notification by the government of the People's Republic of China.
